About Me

I have over twenty years of experience in mental health and have served as Director of Child,  Adolescent, and Family Programs. I have been trained in many modalities and therapeutic techniques, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Functional Family Therapy (FFT), and Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT).

I am a trauma-informed therapist and believe connection is essential for all of us. Struggling relationships must be healed, repaired, and rebuilt to be strengthened. I hope to guide my clients in dealing with these complex and sometimes complex issues with support, empathy, and respect.  In therapy, it will help clients to make sustained positive changes. Too often, clients come to me feeling defeated because they cannot use the skills they have been taught, and I believe it is because they have not yet explored the underlying roots of the problems that they are experiencing.

We are living in stressful times.  Anxiety and depression are typical for adults, teenagers, children, and families. Our reliance on technology and social media contributes to many issues and creates a need for immediate answers. Therapy is a process, and I work with my clients to find what drives us to use or rely on negative behaviors. Most importantly, I work with my clients to gain self-empowerment and build the resiliency that is already inside of them.

When I am not working, I spend my time with my husband, two daughters, a dog (Tucker-pictured above), three cats, one guinea pig, and a parakeet, all keeping me very busy.  Before the pandemic, I also enjoyed volunteering for animal rescue organizations and look forward to getting back involved.
